Desert Horned Lizard
(Phrynosoma platyrhinos)

Although I did not run across as many of the fascinating lizards as you might think, they were definately worth it when i did. A flat pancake like body with horn like scales on the back of its head. I would only really ever see them when I was about to step on them and they would take of running like a little bulldog in a waddle like motion. I never seen it personally, but the Desert Horned Lizard is capable of spurting blood from its eyes upwards in a defensive action. Although this would not cause injury to another animals it might definately scare the pants off them.font>
