Desert Spiny Lizard
(Sceloporus magister)
These highly active lizards could be found all over Fort Irwin. I most often seen them near houses or abandoned structures out in the desert. The large keeled scales on black colors around the neck made them easy to identify not to mention larger individuals can inflict a fairly painful bite. And yes, I would know first hand.
