Zebra-Tailed Lizard
(Callisaurus draconoides)
One of the fastest lizards in the Mojave, these lightening fast animals earn their names from the black and white stiped pattern underneath their tail. When frightened by predators they burst off running with blinding speed raising their tails high in the air exposing the zebra pattern underneath confusing would be predators enabling their escape.
